Lionel Messi Appear in Barcelona Court Over Tax case

The Barcelona point man Lionel Messi and his father, Jorge Messi were in court yesterday (Friday) to answer questions before a Spanish court his accused tax evasion to the tune of 4.2m euros on his image rights.

According to Cristoball Martell, their legal representative, the Friday hearings is an opportunity for the family to clear their names.

"To start a procedure like this, we are following just one instruction: to cooperate with the administration to explain my client's actions and provide them with financial information, "Martell said.

They are suspected of setting up companies in Uruguay and Belize to avoid paying tax in Spain. If found guilty, the Argentine could be jailed for at least 3 years.

Mean while, Messi and his father has openly denied the allegation.

"I never take care of that (tax) stuff myself and neither does my father. "We have our lawyers and out wealth managers to take care of that and we trust them and they will sort this out", Messi said in July.

Please help me, but i can't imagine Lionel Messi in Jail? Can you?
